About

Our Ethos

At C.A.R.E. Services, we believe in the power of community and the dignity of every individual. We are rooted in compassion, committed to meeting immediate needs with respect and care, while also providing the tools, resources, and support that empower lasting stability.

We champion our neighbors—families, veterans, first responders, and individuals—through advocacy, guidance, and opportunity, standing alongside them as partners in building stronger lives and a stronger Ellis County.

Through critical resources, hands-on training, and education, we strive not just to provide relief, but to foster independence, resilience, and growth. Our approach is always a hand up, not a hand out, reflecting our belief that every person can thrive when given support, dignity, and opportunity.

We exist to strengthen the community, bringing neighbors together, connecting people to what they need, and creating a culture of empowerment and care—because when Ellis County thrives, we all thrive.

Our History

What began more than four decades ago as a modest neighborhood food pantry has grown into a trusted pillar of support in Ellis County. Founded by local churches to serve families in the community and assist utility‑customers in need, the organization that would become Waxahachie CARE steadily expanded its reach and its purpose.

Under the leadership of Executive Director Deidre Hamid, Waxahachie CARE evolved from simply distributing supplemental groceries to providing thousands of pounds of food each week, partnering with multiple utility companies, offering financial assistance, and connecting neighbors with medical, spiritual, and personal‑growth resources.

As reach extended beyond Waxahachie and into all of Ellis County, the mission began to expand and grow with a heart for all those who need support, whether supporting crisis needs, resources and training, or advocacy and empowerment to get their footing that leads to a stable life.

Building on that strong foundation, Waxahachie CARE became C.A.R.E. Services in 2025, a comprehensive resource for all of Ellis County, TX that serves those in need with respect and dignity so that they can build a life of resilience and self-sufficiency. Our C.A.R.E. framework—Compassion, Advocacy, Resources, Empowerment—emboldens us to serve all of Ellis County within a framework that meets immediate needs to support long-term stability for individuals, families and our county as a whole. From monthly food distributions to veteran support, training programs, job and credit assistance, and community partnerships, C.A.R.E. Services is committed to equipping our community with hope, tangible resources, and encouragement that hard days build resiliency when supported with the right guidance.

As we enter this exciting new chapter, our vision remains clear: a growing network of care, connection, and opportunity across Ellis County—anchored by dignity, driven by community, and focused on helping people not just get by, but truly thrive.
